Kevin T.'s Member Profile

Kevin joined our club in 2001 & has been an executive member for six of the eight years since. He currently resides in Winnipeg & is also the fearless President of our Club.

Kevin’s current ride is a beautiful 1965 Mustang Coupe with a slightly tweaked 308 under the hood, but his love for Fords started quite a long time ago. His first Ford was a Four eyed White 1983 5.0 litre GT Mustang that he acquired in 1993. He drove that car for a couple of years & traded it up to a Dark Canyon Red 1988 5.0 LX Hatchback that he babied for a very long time. While owning the 88, Kevin chose to buy a 1995 F150, then a 1990 Mercury Cougar XR7 (with a potent turbo 3.8 litre motor under the hood). He bought the 1965 Mustang Coupe locally. The car was sapphire blue before an ongoing ground up restoration that started in 2002. The restoration is almost complete, but Kevin continues to tweak it with a handful of added parts & slight changes yearly. If you ask him, he’ll never be finished.

After saddling up the 65 Kevin has since owned a 2004 Ranger pickup  & his current 2006 F150 that he shares with his riding partner Teri.  The newest Ford added to the fleet is a 1993 Escort Hatch back that he decided to paint himself with help from fellow member (& former owner of the escort JJ).

Kevin is no stranger to car shows either & takes in as many locally & out of province as time & weather permits. Kevin’s 65 draws quite a lot of attention at shows & has acquired no fewer than two trophies in the last two Canadian International Mustang Meets (#27 & 29) with a First Place & Second Place respectively. The Colour of the car is the subject of most people’s interest & is officially named “Sunset Red over Pearl & Black” but Kevin sometimes refers to it as “Black Cherry” to keep questions to a minimum.

His love for Fords is not only skin deep as he proudly wears his enthusiasm on his shoulder in the form of a tribar pony Tatoo.

I am happy to be one of the few people who have driven his 65, when we shared driving duties to the recent International Mustang Meet (#29) in Saskatoon. Even though the car looks like a trailer queen, it was really born to run as the car feels right at home on the highway cruising with the windows down & the radio playing your favourite song.
